R. M. Rylatt was a surveyer under Walter Moberly as part of 'S' party leaving civilization in 1871 returning 1873 (1871,1872,1872). He left the party when he got word that his wife had died. His journals are published in the book Surveying the Canadian Pacific - Memoir of a Railroad Pioneer.
