Marcus Smith

Marcus Smith (-) was an engineer who worked on the surveys and supervised construction in British Columbia. He worked as engineer on the Intercolonial Railway before the CPR. He was appointed Deputy Engineer in Chief for British Columbia in 1871 and energeticly travelled the province exploring and organizing his survey crews.
He was the Canadian Government engineer supervising the work on Andrew Onderdonk's contract between Port Moody and Emory's Bar.
There is a mountain named after him near Bute Inlet just south of the Tiedemann Glacier and south-east of Mt. Waddington.
