James Mahood

James A. Mahood was an explorer and surveyer for the CPR surveys. There is a Mahood Lake and River probably named by him in 1872 located in Wells Gray Provincal Park north of Kamloops. The official reports from the 1870s use this name for the lake in years following.
Explored during:
- 1871 - led 'R' between Barkerville and the upper Fraser River
- 1872 - led 'R' on the North Thompson River
