Port Simpson is the location of the Tsimshian community of Lax Kw’alaams about 35 miles north of Prince Rupert. It was the location of a Hudson's Bay Company post.

The community is near the mouth of Wark Inlet piercing south-east into the land.

This location was considered as a terminous of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1879 (See Surveying in 1879).
