Joseph Hunter was an explorer and surveyor.

He worked for a number of years on the CPR surveys:

  • 1873 - trail cutting with 'X'
  • 1874 - explored Murtle Lake, and led 'Y'
  • 1875 - led 'Y'
  • 1876 - led 'Y'
