George Alexander Keefer was a surveyor and construction engineer. In 1875 and 1876, he led the 'M' survey party which was surveying the upper Fraser River downstream from Tete Jaune Cache.

Keefer was a divisional engineering for construction between Boston Bar to Lytton and has the milepost at 178.3 kilometers west of Kamloops named after him (see Burrows (1981)). The two nearby tunnels just west of the Cisco bridge across the Fraser River are named the Keefer tunnels.
